My next project vehicle, just got it mostly-together and running this evening, prepped for a trip to North Carolina. It’s gonna be a wrenching project to work on with my dad (who’s now retired and itching for a project) . And wrenching it does need, among other things like rust removal and repair, some electrical rewiring, replacement of rusted-out skid plates, vacuum leaks to find and resolve, and of course, it needs locking diffs!
Back in late August I put all-
new stainless brake lines and new calipers/pads
in, then this evening I finally got some fluid in there and fixed a couple of union leaks I found in the new lines
, then bled all four corners. Working brakes are good.

I haven’t done nearly enough of it, but I have enjoyed using my Jeep as an excuse to do projects with my dad. Neither of us actually know anything useful, but his experience and my...well, my nothing...usually get us through, about 8 hours longer than we expect a minor project to take.

Awesome! Wranglers are some of the most fun modern vehicles to drive in my opinion. Every trip feels like an occasion. We just picked up an ‘07 JK, but I’ve put many mile on an ‘05 TJ. Enjoy it, the projects it will bring and the joy those projects will provide for you and your pops. I’ll be keeping an eye out for updates!

My wife never understands when I work on something and I refuse to give her an ETA. Something that should take 10 minutes can turn into an all weekend fiasco with rusty bolts, broken tabs and trips to the store for tools you didn’t know you needed. Enjoy that time with your pop! Some of my favorite memories are from wrenching with my little brother and friends.
BTW: What happened with grabbing another Jeep over the weekend?

It’s always fun to bring these things back to life. Good luck with the trip!
